A boardroom review gives tables to assess their performance in a thorough manner. It helps tables discover aspects of longevity, as and weaknesses in their connections, leadership relationships and culture that could result in changes in both the social and practical aspects. It helps ensure that those who pay to join a table are properly equipped to perform their duties.
This research field is in the process of development and there remain a number challenges. First of all, the current evidence from empirical studies provides mixed findings on how dissent shapes boards and their functioning. Some studies have positive (Zona 2016,) curvilinear, not significant, or mixed results. Some studies show negative (Brown Buchholtz And Butts 2019, Heemskerk Heemskerk and Wats, Minichilli, et al. There are 2012) connections between dissent and the task performance of a board.
Moreover, the existing research does not provide a deeper theoretical understanding of the forces that drive the dynamics of disagreement. Future research should create an integrated theoretical framework to understand this phenomenon of governance. This might include the use and application of configurational methods (Federo and Saz Carranza 2018; Schiell Lewellyn and Yan 2023) to help researchers more precisely understand how individual board attributes process, processes, and contexts relate to the required and sufficient causality in governance processes.
In addition, many studies employ a narrow definition of dissent and do not disclose precise measurement methods. These studies are therefore vulnerable to measurement error. It would be beneficial to develop more reliable methods to measure dissent for future studies.
